Dead without Desire – Re-inspire your Life and Business

by Cheryl Brewster

What does the word desire mean to you?

  • Is it vibrantly alive in your life?
  • Are you ticking off those magnificent milestones on your bucket list which can be as simple as weekly bubble baths or as exotic as trips to far-off places?
  • Is it about achieving that long-held dream that you’ve held precious in your heart for as long as you can remember?
  • Or is it something that feels elusive, that you haven’t really nailed down yet, and can’t seem to?
  • Is it downright annoying that right now, you just don’t know what your desire is?
  • Conversely,  does it feel hedonistic, selfish or wrong; always last  on your list after you’ve taken care of your responsibilities in life… e.g., getting “reality” taken care of before you can “go out and play?”

Desire is a hugely important life component that needs cultivating. It’s the stuff  that life is made of… that first kiss, that first job or business deal, the answer to the question “I wonder what it would be like to…?”  Desire may start off as vibrant, raw energy seeking to express itself, or it may bubble up  quietly over time, into a non-negotiable, in your blood, irrevocable “I just have to” drive that focuses on nothing less than  full completion..

Like a burning ember, keen for the passion of potential completing itself, desire needs fuel to become the flame… it must be fed to grow into the exquisite brilliance of accomplishment..  Napoleon Hill said it best over 70 years ago:

Strong, richly rooted desire, is the starting point of all achievement,
not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.”

But how do we get there when we’re just not feeling the vibe?

Modern day Russian author Vadim Zeland describes some key components in his book Reality Transurfing in a chapter entitled “Forward to the Past:”

Don’t’ wait for the future… Bring it into the current moment… allow yourself to have, right here right now.
This is about DETERMINATION…
The intention to have, contrary to the process of constantly fighting yourself.
The determination to have contains by far, more power than the determination to act.
You need to be completely ready to let yourself have.

This is inspiring, “shake-it up” stuff ! In other words, drop the internal fighting, and be absolutely diligent and determined to have the mindset of “letting yourself have.”  It starts with a feeling, or in-your-bones-knowing.  Best selling Canadian author Danielle Laporte echoes Zeland’s words in her brilliant tell-it-like-it-is style in  The Desire Map:

You’re not chasing the goal, you’re chasing a FEELING you hope reaching the goal will give you.  We have the procedures of achievement upside down. We go after the stuff we want to have and accomplish outside of ourselves, and we hope and pray that we’ll feel great when we get there. It’s backwards. And it’s burning us out.

What if, first we got clear on how we actually wanted to feel in our life, and then we set our intentions?
What if your core desired feelings, consciously, informed how you plan your day, your year – your life?

All authors quoted in this blog are Conscious Changemakers  encouraging us to be bold in revolutionizing our lives by leading with desire. It’s important! Laporte’s words are riveting:

It’s OK to want what you want. In fact, if you don’t start there, with actually owning your desire, you are doomed.
Own the wanting. without apology, and all good things will start to flow from claiming the desire.
We can’t hedge with desire.

So looping back to the first question of this blog:
What does desire mean to you now?
Have you been hedging with it… just dipping your toe in, rather than diving in fully?
Have you let your desire energy wane?
Are you wanting to give up? Maybe you just need to make changes so desire can blossom through different channels?
Its okay when things don’t turn out the way we want or expect them to! It just means there’s something better; there is always an equal or greater benefit to any circumstance in our life… but we must be WILLING to look for it… and be completely ready to let ourselves have it.

What single thing can you do to harness the revitalizing power of desire

  • in your job, career or business?
  • with those you love?
  • with the state of your health, prosperity  or financial affairs?
  • with HOW you live your life?

Heady stuff, isn’t it?! How exciting to give flight to our innermost desires with determination to bring those core, accomplished feelings into the here and now. It’s where all of our best work is done… we’ve proven it before so let’s do it again! It’s time to cut loose from same old, and refresh, rejuvenate and re-inspire our lives and businesses… Take Your Stand for what you desire and feel its accomplishment here now!

What is happiness?

by Cheryl Brewster

What is Happiness? How do you define it? How happy are you? What precipitates your happiness? This video blog is unusual in its perspective… what if happiness is not actually contingent on the results that we create? What if it’s a state of being that is already inherent inside of us? It’s easy to think happiness is dependent on things outside of us…. that’s the way most of us were raised. But consider the musings of Vernon Howard, a proponent of “new-thought….”

“The truth is always intact and so are we. There is nothing to do but enjoy the trip. Banish the idea that you are responsible for results. Make up your mind to enjoy the journey for it is your moral duty to be happy.”

And reiterated by Barry Neil Kaufman in his book Happiness is a Choice:
“If we’re so smart. why aren’t we happy? Because we have not yet created the vision to support such a wonderful reality. But we can! We are the belief makers!”

I believe that as we take responsibility for changing our beliefs on happiness, we become “Conscious Changemakers.” How? Kaufman’s perspective is that we need to take happiness off of it’s pedestal and make it the achievable option that it is by:

1. Implementing simple decisions to make happiness THE priority in your life.
Start small…  what’s the first thing that comes to mind? What if you made this a true priority? What would your life look like a week from now? A month? A year? And that’s just ONE small change… can you imagine???

2. Refusing to believe that unhappiness  now gets you happiness later.
It’s just not true! Even though you may experience various emotions and some of them not so pleasant… choose the happy ones and see what happens!

3. Refusing to believe that unhappiness is a natural, unavoidable characteristic of the human condition.
Not so! Unhappiness follows from certain beliefs and judgments, which we choose and which we can change.

And from my personal experience:
The more I allow intuition to lead, the more I let go of false beliefs that have held me captive in the past, the more I experience true happiness and prosperity on all levels.  But I must be willing to let go of the old!

Again from Kaufman….
“We weren’t born unhappy; we learned to be unhappy. And, in addition, we have become masters at teaching and reinforcing unhappiness. In small, seemingly insignificant ways, we “save the day” but lose another life to misery… when we support happiness, we teach love, peace and acceptance. We have the choice.”

Listen to the challenge from this video blog… what is happiness to you? What wants to move through you? Will you let it?

Dare ya!

Empowerment Amid Transition

by Cheryl Brewster

Conscious Changemakers are Brave!

Awareness breaks the cycle of fear; transition becomes opportunity, possibility and even excitement! Empowerment through Transition…  Clarity and wisdom distilled by you choosing a POSITIVE life experience; creating prosperity from the upheaval that feels anything but positive. Here’s to your Joy, Trust and Courage as a Conscious Changemaker! Remember… we were born to be Happy.

In my recent workshops that address these issues, 4 key steps stand out as superior navigation tools to ride the transformative waves of emotion and change we’re going through:

Four Steps to Empowerment Amid Transition using the ABC’s of Intuition
Aware, Breathe, Connect

1. What are your top 4 prosperity fears?
Remember prosperity isn’t just financial… it applies to all of life’s areas.
When you name them, you identify your fears; they are no longer vague, slippery, lurking or screaming shadows that can never be nailed down and resolved.

2. Trace the energy signature.
Where did this fear come from? See where it leads to… notice where you can take this on as your personal identity rather than just a fear.

3. What triggers the fears?
While you can’t control the people and events around you – you can choose your response. Courage is required! Remember that pain will show us what needs to change but suffering and overly zealous self recrimination are useless. This is choice point. Do you want to stay stuck in the trigger or break free by dropping the charge?

4. What changes can I make to focus on peace instead?
This is your portal of power; the transformative pipeline that takes you from fear and heavy negative energy to peace and knowing. Your own personal energy signature knows what to do and takes you straight to that place of freedom within you. Fear can be transformed to inspired action!

The common link to intuition and happiness

by Cheryl Brewster

Have you noticed that when you are inspired, you are happy? And even if things aren’t going great, that inspiration will lift you up and out of those heavy feelings?

When we’re inspired, we’re trusting that everything is okay and that there is something beautiful and wondrous about life. Taking that higher place of vibration even one step further, being enthusiastic is an even great level of inspiration because it usually leads to action.  As Thoreau urged us, “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams, live the life you’ve imagined.”

Because intuition can only ever be available in the present moment, and inspiration keeps us here now, being inspired is one of the most effective tools we can use to anchor into our intuitive knowingness. So the call to action in this blog today, is to know what inspires you and to consistently, deliberately choose to be inspired.  The self discipline originally required becomes a habit and that’s where all GREAT things begin… it’s the maintenance that we begin to take for granted.  And it’s that slippery slide into “stinkin’ thinkin” that can soon be upon us.

So to stay present and inspired… let’s review today’s tips to help get you back into the positive, happy side of life!  Sounds silly to even say it out loud… it seems so obvious… until it’s not and we find ourselves feeling disconnected.

Today’s action:

1. Live simply
2. Tell the truth
3. Behave as if you were inspired
4. Trust that the universe is conspiring to support you
5. Let go of the past….
6. Embrace the silent, inner pulse of life carrying you… and let it!

The Quest for Happiness

by Cheryl Brewster

I have found that the authentic life is a simple life; that awakening into deeper truth, authenticity and simplicity is more about dropping things than it is about gaining them.  The desire to connect even more, from this deepest, most authentic part of my heart is what has emerged over the last year. It comes with a high price and yet no price at all, because the letting go while at first glance seems painful, is in reality the letting go of pain. The price that appears so high in the beginning, cannot compare to the value of what is received or restored.

My attempts to explain my experience are summed up best by one of my favorite authors, Anthony de Mello from his book on Awareness… take a look at what he says here about Happiness:

“Do you want to be happy? Uninterrupted happiness is uncaused. True happiness is uncaused. You cannot make me happy. You are not my happiness. You say to the awakened person, “Why are you happy”? and the awakened person replies, “Why not”? Happiness is our natural state. Happiness is the natural state of little children, to whom the kingdom belongs until they have been polluted and contaminated by the stupidity of society and culture. To acquire happiness you don’t have to do anything, because happiness cannot be acquired. Does anybody know why?

Because we have it already. How can you acquire what you already have? Then why don’t you experience it? Because you’ve got to drop something. You’ve got to drop illusions. You don’t have to add anything in order to be happy; you’ve got to drop something. Life is easy, life is delightful. It’s only hard on your illusions, your ambitions, your greed, your cravings. Do you know where these things come from? From having identified with all kinds of labels!

What labels do you have in your life that are not contributing to your happiness? They could be a certain outlook, expectation, assumption, habit, any number of things.  The bottom line is, by dropping this dead weight, happiness emerges. And nothing is more inspiring or contagious than happiness!

In my intuitive mentorship programs, I stress the importance of the ABC’s of Intuition; become AWARE of the inner wisdom inside, BREATHE it in, and CONNECT to the heart… the same is true of happiness because it’s already here… the power of imagination and enthusiasm expands it even more. So when something challenging or difficult comes up, I encourage the habit of asking the question “What would happiness do in this moment?” The question is brilliant because it surfaces illusions which are in fact delusions to let go of. Try it, you’ll like it! The more I practice this, the easier and more juicy it becomes.

Simple. Authentic. Happy. Awakened.
That easy, that profound, that Wow!
