Patience – 7 Power Tips

by Cheryl Brewster

Could you benefit from a little more patience, a little more acceptance of what is currently happening in your life? Patience is something most of us wish we had more of. We can get a bit snarly with delay, inconvenience and disappointment.. Snarly, unfortunately only builds frustration, rather than solution. So as Conscious Changemakers what are we to do with these big visions and dreams that may be taking longer than we anticipated? How do we  catch our impatience when things go wrong, get delayed or seem thwarted at every turn?

Let’s start with the definition of patience:

  • the quality of  bearing provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper and  irritation.
  • an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay.
  • quiet, steady perseverance; even-tempered care; diligence

To bear misfortune and pain without complaint, loss of temper and irritation… wow, that’s a tall order; no wonder patience is a virtue. But it’s something more – it’s the invitation to harness any frustration, anger and other charged emotions  into feeding a productive purpose.

Purpose and patience tie into the whole concept of mindfulness: paying attention in a particular way without judgment. They also tie into synchronicity, self-respect and the radical decision to “be happy now,” before our goals are achieved, problems solved, and that big dream landed.  It might sound weird, but it makes sense to choose happiness now; otherwise we’re missing the point…. pursuing goals without a happiness mindset is a life without patience. A life without patience is a life without peace and is doomed to perpetual conflict and suffering.

Our productive purpose then, becomes an immediate choice, that no matter what, we keep going… we keep the faith… we maintain a positive mental attitude at all costs and stay true to our purpose finding the good, the benefit in the challenge, no matter what. .

Patience  is a discipline that remembers the bigger picture.
Why? Every challenge or obstacle feeds a productive purpose.
Patience remembers that purpose; it values it.
Patience is fierce determination – it’s the decision made again and again, to drop doubt, disbelief and negative self judgment.
Here’s 7 Tips to harness the power of patience:

  1. The next time you feel impatience coming on, ask yourself… “would I rather have this, or peace?” Choose peace!.
  2. Happiness is a decision – when you decide to be happy all manner of patience, creativity, new ideas, inspiration and possibilities abound
  3. Use emotional triggers as reminders to  feed your productive purpose, to choose peace, happiness, effectiveness, whatever your key word is that lights your fire
  4. Be kind! Think of Patience as a new habit – it takes time to develop, but step by step it does
  5. Decide right now on the ideas and mindsets that no longer benefit you – say NO to them! Make them final and irrevocable They’re not allowed!
  6. Get physical – change your physiology – celebrate success with a physical YES! Cheer to anchor in the new habit
  7. Understand that when your perspective changes – EVERYTHING changes! Imprint the subconscious with constant pictures of the joy you are creating and feel it.

The benefits of more patience are incalculable; instant relief and peace, worry reduced to a minimum, and a sweet acceptance rather than a resistance to what is. Your mental and emotional energy  focus on solutions, not problems;  intuition, creativity and innovation are heightened. Live flourishes with more contentment and satisfaction.   Too often we ignore the present for the future, and like the caterpillar that becomes a butterfly, we need to enjoy the caterpillar stage… it’s just as important and needed as its next level of evolution. In terms of self discovery and self development, patience is a key factor we cannot ignore.

Get All the Answers you Need with This One Simple Question by Guest Contributor Emma-Louise Elsey

by Cheryl Brewster

Are you having trouble with making a choice or decision? Well, whether it’s something specific or an ongoing issue I want you to know that YOU have ALL the answers you need. To EVERYTHING in your life.

But all too often we literally block ourselves from the answers we need. We get in our own way because we’re afraid. One of the most common fears is a simple fear of uncertainty and the unknown – but it could be a fear of failure, fear of upsetting others (guilt), a fear of what others will think of us, or even a fear of success. All of these fears and more can stop our minds from giving us the answers we need – a simple self-protection mechanism to avoid difficulty and keep us safe. Clever eh?

So, you need answers? Let’s get started!

Here’s Your Question and Simple 3 Step Process to Get All the Answers You Need:

1. Give yourself FULL permission to KNOW the answer and TAKE NO ACTION. In fact you never need to act on it – you can decide later. Take a moment to absorb this fully before you move onto Step 2.

2. Now ask yourself, “If I secretly knew the answer to _______________________, what would it be?”
TIP 1: Remember, you don’t need to act on it. Just answer the question – as if you SECRETLY knew.
TIP 2: What we’re really doing here is asking your intuition – knowledge that comes from your gut, instinct or simple ‘knowing’.

3. Breathe deeply. Let the answer arise. Then, once you have your answer, awesome! Give yourself a pat on the back and for now, just sit with your answer and let it be.

Still no answer? That’s OK – trust and have patience. Give yourself until the end of today or the end of the week. Then just let the answer ARISE from within – imagining it rising from the depths of your true being. Perhaps it’s been hidden away and just needs to feel safe to come out – so give it a little space and time!

Remember: To get around the fear remember that just because you know something doesn’t mean you need to act on it. In fact you can know something and stay exactly where you are. Safe.

You can use this question any time to get the answers you need. Taking action may come later, but first you need to know. And once you know, everything else will follow naturally.

PS: While we did agree that you don’t have to act on it, I have a suggestion. I’d like you to reserve the right to act on it at some point in the future – when you’re ready and you want to! Just a thought…

3 tips to greater personal effectiveness

by Cheryl Brewster

As we grow in awareness, we become more cognizant of what we most want in life. The willingness to let go of the habits that have created what we “don’t want”, requires huge acceptance. Part of that acceptance is the habit of becoming more kind and compassionate with ourselves. This is not a “one time deal or hit and miss scenario.” This must become a habit, and habits are borne out of one thing… the willingness to repeat, repeat, repeat; to make the achievement of our desires more important than the feelings or habits holding us back.

This is hugely courageous and effective work. The definition of effectiveness is producing or being capable of producing a desired effect, so the question becomes, how important is my own personal effectiveness to me? You must be willing to “Take Your Stand,” to make this the most important objective in your life.  As Joel Osteen said, in his book on living your full potential:

“You must make a decision that you are going to move on. It wont happen automatically. You will have to rise up and say, ‘I don’t care how hard this is, I don’t care how disappointed I am, I’m not going to let this get the best of me. I’m moving on with my life.”

Wow… important words to remember. Why? Because in becoming more aware, we are required to meet our ineffectiveness head on. We must be willing to meet our disappointment and not let it get the best of us. The following three tips are key:

  1. You are in training. Every expert started out a beginner. Give yourself a break! Start with where you are and be willing to enjoy the journey; enjoyment allows you to see the possibilities that judgement refuses to see.
  2. Be kind to yourself. It’s your judgments that hold you back… begin an “Awareness Log “of your judgments.
  3. In that log,  include a column for kindness and compassion. Kindness and compassion will  melt the judgement. Judgement is what feeds the fear or procrastination that hold you back from your personal effectiveness and reaching your desires. Expressions to self like “I understand how you could feel this way,” or “of course you would feel this way,” acknowledge the judgement and underlying suppressed feelings. Only when they are acknowledged, can they be released. This is personal effectiveness; the willingness to let go and keep moving on.

Try this:
Notice your judgment of your judgment.
Now bring kindness and compassion to those judgments (e.g., I can understand how you could feel this way).
Breathe.

Consider journaling your experience, or, to receive your complimentary “Awareness Log” click here to request it. The journey of personal effectiveness begins in the extraordinary adventure of self discovery. Where is your intuition leading you? Clues are held in how aware you are of both effective and ineffective habits in your life and how willing you are, to bring kindness and compassion to them. That is the gateway to your powerful knowing  as the Conscious Changemaker in your own life, borne through the fire of trial and error, made easier with the healing effectiveness of kindness and compassion.

As we grow in awareness, we become more effective in achieving what we most want in life. Kindness and Compassion are the Key.

The Energy of Money

by Cheryl Brewster

Are you pushing away the very thing you say you want? Can the energy of money be a profound tool for spiritual transformation? Is there really any difference between tangible cold hard cash and esoteric, metaphysical principles of abundance? Asking these questions is important; they clear the path for us as heart-centred entrepreneurs and change agents, living on purpose.

In my teleseminars and coaching over the last year, a pattern that has struck me as very curious, even bizarre yet absolutely life changing, is this: although we want to create more prosperity in life, a growing shift is the ability to actually accept what we really want. Whether that prosperity is financial, improved health or relationships, most of us are shocked to discover that what has been holding us back has been our own inability to actually receive.

This anomaly is best reflected in some of Dan Millman’s writing (Way of the Peaceful Warrior) where he asks “how good can you stand it?” Wow! Good question… How good CAN we stand it? Are we willing to let it be that good? And if we are, when… and is right now a good time?

Notice that it all begins with awareness. A tiny thought. A tiny pinprick of light pointed in a certain direction.

In studying this phenomenon, I’m drawn to the wisdom of Lester Levenson, the inspiration behind The Sedona Method:

  • There is no difference between the spiritual and material from the viewpoint of Truth. The difference is in outlook; whether you see it from the ego’s point of view or from the Self. A realized person sees the world only as an out-projection of themselves.
  • Any time we see any difference between the spiritual and the worldly, it’s because we don’t have enough understanding of the spiritual as yet. We are separating. The highest state is when we are in the world and in spirit at one and the same time and there is no difference.
  • When we’re there, we don’t see it as world and spirit. We see it as one and the same thing; we see a oneness; we see it all as our very own Self.

To manifest in the physical, we must understand the spiritual.
To understand the spiritual, we must take inspired, authentic action in the physical.

This is where the power of intuition is truly at play:

  • what is calling you, inspiring you, directing you? What do you most want?
  • notice any hesitancy or resistance to receiving it, allowing it, taking action towards it
  • what happens when you hold the resistance in pure compassion and kindness?
  • does it help you become more aware of driven behaviors ?
  • can resistance now be a gift, one that points to the separation that really isn’t there, but one that you believed exists?

Perhaps in answering these questions, a bizarre, counter-intuitive pattern begins to emerge; we begin to see that the very thing we disowned in ourselves is our treasure. And therefore, there is no need for separation. There is nothing to fear, and no one to judge. When it comes to money, if we drop the separation, the fear and judgement; what remains? We begin to realize that all resistance is simply the invitation to let go of refusing what we most want to experience. As we embrace the learning, all manner of energy is freed up; we clear in the spiritual to take the inspired action necessary in the physical.

How good can you stand it?
Isn’t it time to have more fun visioning with the energy of money?
Isn’t it time to accept more wholeness with the energy of health?
Isn’t it time to enjoy manifesting your sacred partner as you fall madly and deeply in love with yourself?
And isn’t now a good time?

Intuition. Mindfulness. Prosperity. All here now. Are you accepting it or pushing it away? How do you know? Sometimes we go through unexpected, unwanted events, but when we remember that  “the highest state is when we are in the world and in spirit at one and the same time and there is no difference.”  This takes new vision and the willingness to apply emerging certainty through the vehicle of uncertainty. Brave work, powerful work, requiring repeated steps and application. “We are what we repeatedly do,” said Aristotle, “excellence is not an act, but a habit.”  Here’s to our new and strengthened habits as we grow stronger through accepting resistance and treasuring all the tiny, exquisite moments that are so incredibly rich, even in the midst of resistance.

Prosperity Thinking and Gratitude

by Cheryl Brewster

I’m so grateful for the guiding principles that have inspired my life. Introduced by Steven Covey in his popular book,  The Seven Habits of Highly Effective people, the following simple phrase is one of the most powerful intuitive tools I’ve used:

“Begin with the end in Mind.”

Take a moment and a couple of deep breaths to reflect on this concept, and perhaps you, like me, will notice the following.

Begin with the End in Mind:

  • Immediately connects you to Prosperity; that bigger picture of inspiration and possibility that is always available when you direct your focus to it.
  • Activates the flow of intelligence that dynamically transforms difficulty into “I can do it!” inspired action
  • Reveals solutions  or new directions not accesible by the logical mind
  • Brings clarity and reveals limiting beliefs that you can drop with more ease
  • Connects you to your body wisdom and visual mind’s eye, where you “just know” or “see the optimal thing to do”

As a Conscious Changemaker  building your personal prosperity from the inside out, consider these 10 Tips:

  1. Identify a current challenge in your life and focus on “the End in in Mind”; notice the ideas that “pop” into your awareness
  2. Use an intuitive journal…. write down the ideas, “knowings,” images and inspirations that appear
  3. Jot down the synchronicities that occur; how are they related to your End in Mind reflection?
  4. Use visualization to go deeper; use imagination; let the scene play out, like watching a movie.
  5. Notice that over time, positive thought and feeling really do transform fear, so this becomes a Good Habit!
  6. Use the phrase as a mantra to bring focus. It will override doubt and the gravitational pull of staying stuck
  7. Use it as a practice  to generate more personal power
  8. You will forget from time to time.  The ABC’s of Intuition will help you to remember… Aware, Breathe, Connect to the End in Mind to get back on track
  9. Practice, practice, practice!
  10. Include kindness, compassion – they accelerate the process of awakening authentic power

While intuition lies beyond the logical, rational mind, thoughts and feelings are ENERGY…. when we master our focus and feelings, we become masters of this energy…. we begin to direct it more consciously; we keep our vision on the End in Mind so that despite challenges, we take small, consistent steps forward. Those small steps comprise the big leaps possible only by being AWARE of where we are focused or distracted, so we can kindly and compassionately course correct.

We can’t underestimate the power of imagination in activating our intuition…. Einstein recalled how, at the age of 16, he imagined chasing after a beam of light and how this experiment  played a memorable role in his development of special relativity.

The Intuitive Life is comprised of benefits that begin with the End in Mind. They are many…. what are they for you? Do you, like me….

  • feel more empowered and reminded that you have personal freedom and choice?
  • remember that no matter what happens, you are tapped into optimum solution at all times?
  • build your  “commitment muscles” that over time, automatically relax those “resistance muscles”?
  • consciously, deliberately choose more fun and joy as you  awaken into your true nature?
  • feel more inspired and grateful for the abundance and prosperity that is already here?

Begin with the End in Mind truly is Prosperity Thinking and Gratitude. From that place in my heart to yours; Happy Thanksgiving!

What is happiness?

by Cheryl Brewster

What is Happiness? How do you define it? How happy are you? What precipitates your happiness? This video blog is unusual in its perspective… what if happiness is not actually contingent on the results that we create? What if it’s a state of being that is already inherent inside of us? It’s easy to think happiness is dependent on things outside of us…. that’s the way most of us were raised. But consider the musings of Vernon Howard, a proponent of “new-thought….”

“The truth is always intact and so are we. There is nothing to do but enjoy the trip. Banish the idea that you are responsible for results. Make up your mind to enjoy the journey for it is your moral duty to be happy.”

And reiterated by Barry Neil Kaufman in his book Happiness is a Choice:
“If we’re so smart. why aren’t we happy? Because we have not yet created the vision to support such a wonderful reality. But we can! We are the belief makers!”

I believe that as we take responsibility for changing our beliefs on happiness, we become “Conscious Changemakers.” How? Kaufman’s perspective is that we need to take happiness off of it’s pedestal and make it the achievable option that it is by:

1. Implementing simple decisions to make happiness THE priority in your life.
Start small…  what’s the first thing that comes to mind? What if you made this a true priority? What would your life look like a week from now? A month? A year? And that’s just ONE small change… can you imagine???

2. Refusing to believe that unhappiness  now gets you happiness later.
It’s just not true! Even though you may experience various emotions and some of them not so pleasant… choose the happy ones and see what happens!

3. Refusing to believe that unhappiness is a natural, unavoidable characteristic of the human condition.
Not so! Unhappiness follows from certain beliefs and judgments, which we choose and which we can change.

And from my personal experience:
The more I allow intuition to lead, the more I let go of false beliefs that have held me captive in the past, the more I experience true happiness and prosperity on all levels.  But I must be willing to let go of the old!

Again from Kaufman….
“We weren’t born unhappy; we learned to be unhappy. And, in addition, we have become masters at teaching and reinforcing unhappiness. In small, seemingly insignificant ways, we “save the day” but lose another life to misery… when we support happiness, we teach love, peace and acceptance. We have the choice.”

Listen to the challenge from this video blog… what is happiness to you? What wants to move through you? Will you let it?

Dare ya!

Take the Intuitive Challenge… what wants to move through you…. share your experience by emailing from The Intuitive Life website or sharing on Facebook and to be entered in a draw to win Cheryl Brewster’s Intuitive Visualization CD.

Find a spiritual coach

by Cheryl Brewster

Transforming vision into action first starts with feeling the “angst” of that vision. In this youtube video I share some of the “symptoms” that can occur when we are in the midst of spiritual growing pains.  We are living in exciting, dynamic and intense times… the shift of consciousness that we are in is extracting a price; we need to let go of “living small” to step into the majesty of “our best lives.”

And that can create just a wee bit of angst!

Where are you in your angst? Where are you in your vision? Feeling stuck? Feeling scared? Good! Your emotional guidance system is letting you know that something needs to change; something’s growing, it’s ready to POP!  It’s time to take an action step that is different from what you’ve done before. It’s time to go deeper into your purpose.

What is that for you today? What does your heart tell you? Can you let yourself sit in the dynamic tension of the two, that push/pull struggle…. can you let yourself feel your feelings once and for all, so that something new can arise?  This is the path of initiation and commitment, over and over again.  The willingness to let go of control of the small self for the peace and knowing of the infinite self.

Easy to say, much harder to actually do.

I often share the story of how I came into acceptance of my own personal “calling” by kicking and screaming the whole way. Becoming a professional psychic/intuitive was totally beyond anything I could ever have imagined… it went against all of the spiritual, cultural and social/moral  beliefs I’d grown up with. And yet… it has led me to a life of purpose, peace and passion that is also beyond anything I could ever  have imagined.  Living my gifts and talents, is living my best life and supports those around me in doing the same.   I would never have known and be able to teach, share and counsel with others if I had not gone through the experience myself. It takes great courage to walk this path of expanding spiritual awareness… and it is SO worth it!

What is your heart calling you to? What is that “forbidden place” within you that you won’t look at?  Quite often, it’s simply the confidence to listen to our callings…. and of course, this spiritual journey will require change, otherwise the angst turns into suffering.

Tips to move forward:

  • Your intuition will never lead you wrong – you can trust it, but you must take the time out to hear and discern it
  • What does your gut tell you? What do you feel in your bones?
  • Avoid cosmic constipation by honoring your quiet times to connect and then to take action
  • Embrace uncomfortable feelings as friends letting you know they’ve got something better for you
  • Talk to a trusted friend or spiritual coach; so often it helps just to verbalize what’s going on

What is a Clairvoyant?

by Cheryl Brewster

The  youtube video above, explains what being clairvoyant is all about.  We are all psychic/clairvoyant/intuitive and each one of us has the capability of developing these abilities further. Clairvoyant means “clear seeing” which generally refers to the “third eye,” or the multi-sensory sixth sense over and above  our five senses.  I love encouraging my clients to use their third eye more consistently for important benefits including:

1. Increased perception
This is what allows you to “read” information and energy beyond the physical sense of sight. Remember that thoughts may be invisible but they carry an energy signature that can be read and interpreted.

2. Greater intelligence
Wouldn’t it be great to avoid potential problems by having a “heads-up awareness?”  That’s what your clairvoyant abilities can help you with, which is an important skill in any situation, particularly in business or in relationships. In hiring interviews or first dates, practice looking beyond the physical person and notice any visual images on your mental screen. What do the images mean to you or remind you of? Use intention to hone clarity; this image is appearing for a reason… what message is it conveying?  Use discernment to interpret what these images mean to you and the possible connection with this new person… how will this information help you with decision making (yes/no) and ongoing communication?

3.  Third eye focus contributes to single-minded focus.
Third eye focus helps you honor the bigger picture of your life by staying true to your purpose. Single minded/third eye focus helps to target your goals so that you are less distracted/susceptible to external influences or negative internal patterns that have unconscious negative agendas (e.g., procrastination to keep you “safe” from stretching through a comfort zone). Third eye focus supports internal self unity, healing any internal conflict with the self; those push/pulls that keep us stuck in the status quo.

To learn more and enjoy consistent, support and practice in developing the art and science of being clairvoyant, see information on the “Take Your Stand” Teleseminars designed to support prosperity by expanding and practicing the ABC’s of Intuition – the foundation to clairvoyant/psychic development.

5 secrets that gratitude reveals

by Cheryl Brewster

If you’re reading this article, chances are, that on most days you’re generally a positive person. Which means that you’re someone who practices an “attitude of gratitude.”  Me too, however imagine my delight when in researching this topic, I discovered 5 secrets about gratitude that I did not know before! Read on to discover the impact they can have on your life, especially as it relates to prosperity.

First of all, the research – there are many bodies of work that suggest that people who are more grateful are:

  • happier
  • less depressed
  • less stressed
  • more satisfied with their lives
  • enjoy higher levels of mental health
  • cope better with life transition

In addition, people who consistently incorporate gratitude into their lives have an aptitude for:

  • higher levels of control of their environments, personal growth, life purpose and self acceptance
  • more positive ways of coping with life’s challenges
  • seeking support from other people to reinterpret and grow from their experiences
  • more time spent in planning on how to deal with problems rather than trying to avoid or deny them
  • greater ability to avoid blaming themselves, or cope through substance use
  • better health because they choose positive rather than negative thoughts just before going to bed, resulting in a better night’s sleep

From my own experience:

  1. areas lacking in prosperity are lacking in gratitude
  2. areas lacking in gratitude are steeped in unconscious worry patterns
  3. gratitude unlocks the door of possibilities that worry slammed shut

Here are 5 keys to transforming life through Gratitude

  1. List the top 3 areas in life in which you  enjoy prosperity and contentment… what is the belief system creating these results?
  2. Now list of the top 3 areas that aren’t so prosperous and happy… what is the belief system creating these less than great results?
  3. Compare your two lists; notice the positive belief systems from the first list will be missing from the second one. Interesting huh?  Ask questions. Gratitude is the ability to feel or see appreciation: what did you learn about yourself from this exercise? What new belief systems can you apply to those areas lacking in prosperity? What levels of gratitude are missing from this second list? What would happen if you were more grateful for what you DID have in these challenging areas?
  4. Turn it around; experiment, challenge yourself, do something constructive; Commit to a daily gratitude journal to capture and integrate these insights; track what happens in the next week/month
  5. Practice random/anonymous acts of kindness to express your growing feelings of thankfulness, appreciation and gratitude;  it supports your intuition which is your ability to naturally create more harmony and prosperity in your life.

Worry is a contracting energy while gratitude or feeling appreciation is an expanding one. The capacity to make positive, consistent change as a “Conscious Changemaker,” is incredibly powerful. It alerts us to where we are taking things for granted and not staying in the present moment – the only point of power we have. It slows us down to enjoy the infinite possibilities and abundance that we are surrounded by.

Consider:

In one gratitude study, the longest lasting effects were caused by the act of writing “gratitude journals” where participants were asked to write down three things they were grateful for every day. These participants’ happiness scores  increased and continued to increase each time they were tested periodically after the experiment. In fact, the greatest benefits were usually found to occur around six months after treatment began. This exercise was so successful that although participants were only asked to continue the journal for a week, many participants continued to keep the journal long after the study was over.  (See more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gratitude)

The bottom line? Prosperity includes thankfulness, scarcity doesn’t. Where can you practice more gratitude? It will expand your world and experience of joy.

For more first hand experience on gratitude and the role it plays in Intuition, see Cheryl’s calendar of live events; Intuitive Gatherings or Teleseminars…. or contact her directly.
